Plot (2003), evolved from "Marginal Errors".
I began to sculpt with the book form and its textured interior - creating topographic forms. Responding to the floor of the gallery that provided a 'map-like' grid the books became a mountain range dissecting the space and punctuated by the led plumb suspended above splatters of led. While further investigating memoria technica, in this configuration it also directly referenced the heated foreshore debate current at the time in New Zealand. |
